Child Development

You can learn to understand the aging process, health, and safety features, family trees, nutritional snacks for any age, journaling about development, family form, family communication, and/or babysitting prinicples and rules, bullying, and coping skills, blended family's and transitioning into blended families, gerontology and aging issues, mental health issues for teens, grief and grieving processes in all ages, suicide prevention topics, adaptive learning styles, effects of digital media on family interactions, learning styles, and behaviors.

Clothing & Textiles

All clothing exhibits require a special entry form!!!  Some county fairs will have a separate day prior to fair for clothing exhibits, check with your local extension office to verify when clothing is judged at your county level. 

Constructed Clothing 

This is clothing that the member has constructed:

        Blouse/Top/Shirt

        Skirt/Jumper

        Vest

        Dress

        Shorts/Pants/One Piece with a Crotch

        Jacket/Coat/Cape

        Outfit of two or more pieces

        Accessory, using fabric 

Selected Outfit

This is a purchased outfit that can come from a retailer or secondhand store. 

The goal is to get a low cost, high quality outfit.  


Recycled Clothing

This is an article of clothing that you have added embellishments, or repairing a garment. 

 

Consumer Education

This project area is to help members to learn how their personal values, goals, and available resources affect their consumer behavior.  It will help them learn how social, economic, and political systems affect consumers and the effect consumers have on those systems.  They will also learn about management/economic principles for making consumer decisions and the rights and responsibilities of consumers and businesses including acting responsibly as a consumer.

Entrepreneurship

You can exhibit binders, posters, or display exhibits about setting personal goals, starting or investigating a business, finance or marketing, developing a business plan.

This project area is all about interior design.
