Small Animal Workshop Day January 31st, 2026
Hutchinson and Turner County staff, teen leaders, and volunteers have put together a day of workshop opportunities in Freeman. Both the rabbit and poultry workshops are Youth Livestock Literacy (YLL) approved. Please sign up for each workshop youth plan to attend at the corresponding links so that we may adequately prepare for each workshop.
So You Want to Show a Cat/Kitten?
Tips and tricks for success with Cat/Kitten Showmanship in the Companion Animal Project will be the focus of this workshop. The workshop will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. at the Freeman Community Center Meeting Room. The Freeman Community Center is located at 224 S. Wipf St. Freeman, SD. Youth will have the option of bringing their own cat/kitten to work with. The training is being taught by staff and an experienced teen leader. Tips and tricks for success in the rabbit project plus hands-on rabbit showmanship practice will be the focus of this Youth Livestock Literacy approved workshop. The workshop will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 10:15 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. at the Freeman Community Center Meeting Room. The Freeman Community Center is located at 224 S. Wipf St. Freeman, SD. Youth will have the option of bringing a rabbit to work with or working with other rabbits at this training.
