Forestry
Any projects pertaining to forest and shelter belt management, timber harvesting and reseeding, urban tree management, pest management including emerald ash borer, diseases of both deciduous and pine trees, effects of drought and flooding on forestry management.
Geology & Minerals
This is a place for all those rock collections your member has started. Please take a look at the State Fair Handbook for rules and specifications. There is also another handbook to complete this project. You can also enter you metal craft here including ornamentation and/or service, examples: vases, vanity boxes, etc. Jewelry refers only to articles intended for personal ornamentation and wear; examples: rings, tie clasp, earrings, cuff links. Use of finished stones, fossils or mineral specimens in all articles of metal craft or jewelry is mandatory.
Outdoor Education & Recreation
These projects are about trends in leisure, types of leisure, exercise, health, a walk in the woods, a shelter belt, your shcool or courthouse yard, your backyard, nearby fish pond, lake or dam, farmer's home garden, outdoor recreation (nature traits, hikes, and the study of wildlife and nature)
Range Management
This project may be exhibited in tubs, books, or other appropriate storage devices. To avoid losing seed and inadverent contamination, do not exhibit weed specimens in the mature seed stage unless the seed head is securely encased in a clear plastic bag.
There are collections that members should gather, press, and mount. Each year will add on to the last.
