If you are showing a meat goat in the state of South Dakota you will want to check the State Fair Handbook every year to watch for rule changes.  It seems they are always changing these classes as meat goats have exploded in numbers in the last 10-15 years.  It takes a long time to get all the kinks out and as everything else it is constantly evolving on a national level also.  

Another important thing to decide is if you will be showing your female goat as a weather dam/market doe(these are now the same thing) or a breeding doe.  This will determine how you will clip your animal for the show.  This may also be different depending on where you live and what show you are going ot always read the rules and handbooks.
