It's a Cloverbud Project!
All ages of 4-H members can enter in the rabbit show, ages 5-18.
Breed Show
You can show your pure bred rabbits. You will want to make sure you have a pedigree for your rabbit so you can make sure it is actually the breed the person you buy it from says it is. If you would like to find a breeder, I would suggest going to the South Dakota Rabbit Breeder Association Facebook Page and ask there.
In these classes your rabbit will be judged on how they look and how closely they follow the American Rabbit Breeder Association Standard.
Meat Pen
In this entry you will be entering rabbits that are the most uniform looking pen. The judge is looking for a pen that they would want to sell as market animals.
Display Exhibit
You always have the option to enter a poster or an educational display. Or you could make a carrying cage for showmanship or any item you might use for your rabbit.
Rabbit Skill-a-thon
A skill-a-thon is like a quiz bowl but on paper. The members will be asked to identify breeds, answer vocabulary questions, disqualification questions, and part of a rabbit along with other general knowledge questions.
This is offered at the South Dakota State Fair. You must sign up for a designated time on the designated day that Rabbit Skill-a-thon is scheduled. This sign up is due when you enter the rest of you South Dakota State Fair exhibits on www.fairentry.com.
